New adventures

Lately we've had a lot of guests.  Having guest distracts me from important things (i.e. blogging).  So far 2/3s of our company has come and gone, and our last group flies in Friday.  It's been fun showing everyone around Monterey and Pacific Grove.  It helps us get out and see the sights; we've discovered new places and restaurants in the last few weeks!

Another exciting thing is that this week I found out I got a job.  Beginning next week I will be a preschool teacher!  I've enjoyed being at home the last few weeks and not having much to do, but I'm really looking forward to having full days again, especially since I'll be working with very cute small children.  There are downsides to being a housewife I've learned.  Granted, I don't do very much.  Mostly go to the gym, do some crafting, read some novels, keep the house clean.  There are disadvantages though.  One of which is dishes.  Apparently, in order to do the dishes you need an advanced degree in dish organization and management.  Maybe when I'm busy working all day hubby will learn how to do the dishes.  Here's hoping!

Coming up, Phil will be heading into his second quarter.  I can't believe we're nearly done with the first quarter already.  We also have a family wedding in April, and a chance to see our adorable little nephews.  Looking forward to all the adventures coming up!

Love and...murder?!?

For Valentine's Day we did something a little different.  We went to dinner.  A 1920's murder mystery dinner.  The event was hosted by the MWR in an historic 1920's hotel at NPS.  So we put on our duds and solved a crime!  Although we weren't the best detectives (it was the muscle and not the girlfriend who killed our crime lord) we had an exciting evening and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  Now that we have the fedora and pearls we're considering hosting a 1920's themed party.  Gin in the bathtub anyone?

Sight-seeing Monterey

So we had our first visitor in our new place!  My mom came out for a quick little visit, and we got to do some sightseeing.  She flew into San Francisco so we spent a few hours in the city Saturday.  Sunday we watched the Super Bowl together (rooting for the Pats, of course!), while Monday and Tuesday we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, did some shopping, and ate lots of delicious seafood!  It was so neat to see the area we live in and enjoy a few days with mom.

Rowing in Golden Gate Park.  I let my handsome sailor navigate for us!

Our peek of the Golden Gate Bridge! (It really is there... very far off, in the background)

Man's best friend?

They say that a dog is man's best friend.  Eva is my dog.  I begged to get her and hunted all over San Diego for her.  I walk her daily, feed her, clean her ears when they're infected, pick up her poop.  I give her treats, and talk to her pretty much all day long.  I let her lick the tuna cans and sit on the couch.  Does she get crazy excited when I get home?  Does she follow me around the house or want to sit next to me while we're watching tv? Does she whine at the front door for half an hour after I leave?

No.

No, these demonstrations of affection she saves for one person.  Philip.  The man who points out to everyone that she's not his dog, who gets mad when she pulls on her leash, and who never lets her lick the tuna cans.

Best friend?  I don't think so!
